Maybe something could be in the works then, though I believe that at least some of his silents (like the 1926 version of The Road to Glory) are completely lost. But I'd be particularly interested in seeing Fig Leaves, Paid To Love, Ed Howardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18014222247676090467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3296479421292377391.post-15486504019022449432009-01-15T11:36:00.000-05:002009-01-15T11:36:00.000-05:00It's really unfortunate that these great films are...It's really unfortunate that these great films aren't more readily accessible.

I know. I mean, it's freakin' Howard Hawks! I'm sure somebody has something in the works in much the same way the FINALL got the early John Ford silents to DVD, but they need to hurry it on up!

In the meantime, I'll check out that video store here in town. Most of these early Hawks films are definitely recognizable as Hawks, with similar themes and ideas to his later, better-known films. And A Girl in Every Port is particularly fun, probably my favorite of the ones I've watched so far.

Unfortunately, almost none of these are available on DVD.
