The reason I have tended to cover less famous films by famous directors is mainly that I review everything I watch, and for the most part I've already seen the more well-known films by the directors you mention. At the moment most of my viewing is concentrated on the unwatched films in my DVD pile, so it tends to be films I've never seen before as opposed to Ed Howardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18014222247676090467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3296479421292377391.post-77140986476155698462008-06-06T15:04:00.000-04:002008-06-06T15:04:00.000-04:00Hi,visited your blog for the 1st time and was imme...Hi,visited your blog for the 1st time and was immediately hooked onto your marvelous film dissertations. i have a question though - as far as i noticed, you haven't included reviews of the most celebrated works (read: magnum opus) of the famous directors you have covered (Scorcese, Godard, Tarkovsky, Coppola, Almodovar, Bergman, etc). Is this a conscious decision from your front or is this just aShubhajithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02040495040897333606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3296479421292377391.post-86350354674053695392008-06-05T22:34:00.000-04:002008-06-05T22:34:00.000-04:00Rivette originally created a stage version of La R...Rivette originally created a stage version of La Religieuse, starring Karina. But once he saw it performed as a piece of theater he decided it was "a mistake" and made this film.

It became a considerable Cause Celebre when it was banned. Godard wrote a stininmg denunciation of De Gaulle cultural minister Francois Mauriac for his cowardice in allowing this to happen. I read through the Balzac before watching Langeais and it really blew my mind how Rivette -- while keeping very much in line with the story -- staged it in such a way that it was undeniably Rivette.Filmbohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10856374977796706304noreply@blogger.com
