Well done. Zishe charactor had a certain presence in the film which was captivating. And Tim Roth played a mysterious and divious charactor. Really compelling.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3296479421292377391.post-40220704279500438932009-05-16T13:22:00.000-04:002009-05-16T13:22:00.000-04:00Thanks, James. I liked Roth's portrayl in this film, but I definitely felt like the film would've been more interesting if it had delved deeper into him rather than the comparatively boring Zishe. Thanks for bringing that film to my attention.Ed Howardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18014222247676090467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3296479421292377391.post-60801800294869175412009-05-08T15:10:00.000-04:002009-05-08T15:10:00.000-04:00Because of Hanussen's presence in the film, Herzog...Because of Hanussen's presence in the film, Herzog's effort probably suffered by comparison to Istvan Szabo's Hanussen biopic, which is quite good. I thought that Ahola's awkwardness was deliberately cultivated by Herzog. The point of the scene when Zishe tries to rouse the populace about the Nazi menace seems to be that he simply is too inarticulate to make his warning convincing.
