I saw it for the first time a few years ago in an Intro to Film class at college and it seemed like the entire class loved it. It's always daunting approaching a classic like this, but I just wanted to express my real love for this Keaton masterpiece, which along with The General is one of his most unassailably perfect films. It was definitely a major influence on the Woody movie you mention, and its surrealist brilliance remains startling even now.
