R2/UK is better, but even there some (like this one, naturally) have fallen through the cracks.Ed Howardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18014222247676090467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3296479421292377391.post-9086141979315488732011-04-04T12:48:09.759-04:002011-04-04T12:48:09.759-04:00Thanks for this review of a Rohmer film I have yet...Thanks for this review of a Rohmer film I have yet to see. The films that fall outside of his major cycles are too often ignored and overlooked, especially this one, Reinette and Mirabelle (one of my favorites), and Rendezvous in Paris, which as Jaime mentions is structured around musical interludes from a couple of street performers who introduce each of the film'Ed Howardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18014222247676090467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3296479421292377391.post-78540061417863667272011-04-04T10:06:28.371-04:002011-04-04T10:06:28.371-04:00RENDEZVOUS IN PARIS is also a Rohmer/musica hybrid...RENDEZVOUS IN PARIS is also a Rohmer/musica hybrid.

Nice review - here's my take on it:
http://www.unexaminedessentials.com/2009/02/tree-mayor-and-mediatheque-eric-rohmer.html

(was lucky enough to see a print at last year's Rohmer retro)Jaimehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07468421420936035366noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3296479421292377391.post-2784924880540504402011-04-04T08:39:33.061-04:002011-04-04T08:39:33.061-04:00So glad you've discovered this nearly unknonw ...So glad you've discovered this nearly unknonw Rohmer. When he applied, as everyone does for an advance sur recettes his was turned down because the government agency that grants them didn't believe Rohmer's proposed budget was possible. So he went ahead and amde the film anyway without an advance sur recettes, an he opened it in Paris with litle fafare. it did quite wellDavidEhrensteinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11016905507543736049noreply@blogger.com
